USB Data format
« on: August 12, 2014, 07:59:42 AM »
How can I obtain the data format specification for the Skyradar D as used on the USB port?  I assume it is the same format as the wireless port.

I use the unit with WingX now currently with an iPAd and it works great.  I am working on an idea for another product that could use the info provided by the unit regarding position, etc for another usage  at the same time.  Easiest interface seems to be to use the USB port.

Any reference documentation greatly appreciated.

According to the answer to the question "Does SkyRadar work with other application providers?"
the answer is
"SkyRadar outputs data in industry standard GDL-90 format"

That's from
http://www.skyradar.net/faq.html

And you can find the GDL-90 document here:
http://www.faa.gov/nextgen/implementation/programs/adsb/wsa/media/GDL90_Public_ICD_RevA.PDF

Note: I don't have a unit and can't confirm this but I'm about to try  8)
