Title: Skyradar DX
Post by: Resanborn on January 12, 2014, 02:01:58 PM
Anyone know if the DX gps can provide position source to a GTX 330 ES until 2020 in a certified aircraft?
I am looking at skyradar DX to provide weather and traffic and synthetic vision with WingX  on a yoke mounted IPad mini.

According to FAA you can not use non-certified GPS for ADS-B output. Non aviation certified GPS can happily show you couple miles of your actual position without any indication that it can't be trusted. I've seen it couple times already. There is a reason aviation grade GPS cost so much, they do run more complex math algorithms and do additional position crosschecks.
